Coming up is the 2008 Muddy Buddy Ride & Run! Basically, you ride your bike and then switch and run - both through a pit of yucky fantastic mud. There is a better description on site, but expect obstacle courses and lots of mud. It’s a national event but it will be in Boulder on August 17th. You have to register by the 14th. Your money goes to a good cause: Challenged Athletes Foundation. If you don’t have someone to donate to yet, here’s one option. Also, there’s a mini muddy buddy for kids.

Dragon Boat Festival
July 23, 2008 · No Comments
This weekend check out the 8th annual Dragon Boat Festival at Sloan’s Lake. 10 am to 7 pm both days. I went last year and it was surprisingly very well attended with tons of tents and activities. You can park at Invesco and grab a shuttle over as it will be hard to find legal parking in the area.
From the site: A window to the Pan Asian world, this diverse weekend festival is the only one of its kind in the United States. It showcases an array of traditional and contemporary performing artists, cultural customs and cuisine from Asia and the Pacific, eclectic and exotic shopping opportunities in the Marketplace, in addition to two days of competitive dragon boat racing.
Since its debut in 2001, the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival has grown from 15,000 to a record 105,000 attendees in 2007 of various ages and origins. Visitors come from across the Front Range, the state and the country to participate in this annual summer event.

Just stumbled upon a beta site: CultureMob. And, they have a Denver section! The site features events of any kind - and you can add your own events to the site. Right now not a ton of stuff other than movies on there - but it looks like it could be promising if it took off.

indyink re-grand opening south broadway denver
Went to INDYINK (84 S. Broadway) this weekend on South Broadway, and thought I’d post a couple of their events. The first is their gallery opening featuring beer and art, coming up on this upcoming rescheduled first Friday, and then a grand “re”-opening on the 11th.
Also, not until September is the Plastisol event - right now is a call for artists. Submit your t-shirts:

2008 Cherry Creek Arts Festival
June 30, 2008 · No Comments
This weekend, among other Fourth of July activities, is the annual Cherry Creek arts Festival! Held in Cherry Creek North this is a pretty good gathering of arts in Denver and has been around for quite some time. Unlike some of the smaller festivals held downtown that don’t have a lot of variety or top of the line artists, if you are serious about art, you’ll find some good stuff here. If you just enjoying browsing but don’t have the pockets for art collecting - don’t worry there’ll plenty for you, too.
Arts Festival Hours:
Thursday, July 3 7:00pm to 10:00pm: Artist Preview Event: Clayton St Only
Friday, July 4 10:00am to 8:00pm
Saturday, July 5 10:00am to 8:00pm (Fireworks night)
Sunday, July 6 10:00am to 6:00pm
